James Presley was born in Yorkshire, England and came to America with his two brothers. They went to Richmond, Va., they lived a short while near Winchester, Va., and moved on to Russell County, Va. to the Forks of Indian Creek and built a cabin and cleared land. This is the beginning of our Presley family in southwest Virginia.

James Presley, born 1783 in Russell County, Virginia. Married Lydia (Biddie) Hatfield daughter of Ephriam Hatfield and Mary (Polly) Smith Goff. Both died after 1870 in Russell County, Virginia - now Buchanan County, Virginia. Biddie Hatfield is a descendant of the Hatfields involved in the Hatfield - McCoy fued.

William Presley, b. 1809, d. October 9, 1895. He first married Mary Runyons, and second marriage to Sarah Stiltner, b. March 7, 1826, d. December 1915. William and Sarah are buried in the Presley/Turner Cemetary in Hurricane Creek, Virginia.
